About The Position

UCP Long Island is a not-for-profit agency dedicated to advancing the independence, productivity, and full citizenship of individuals with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. With over 75 years of service, we are committed to 'Creating Life Without Limits for People With Disabilities.' We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our finance department. This role will involve assisting with billing and vouchering for various contracts, including those with Suffolk County Deficit Funding, OPWDD, and ACCES-VR. The position requires monthly journal entries to record accounts receivable, review of health insurance bills against payroll, and preparation of monthly journal entries for allocation. Additionally, the role includes preparing quarterly NYS Gas Tax refund forms, capturing Food Stamp revenue for IRA participants, and preparing corresponding journal entries. The Staff Accountant will also review ISS Grant recipients' documentation and check requests, maintain fixed asset spreadsheets, reconcile them with the General Ledger quarterly, and assist with annual budgets, audits, and CFR preparation. The role also involves preparing fringe reporting for W-2s and 1099s.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field, required.
  • Minimum of four (4) years related accounting experience, required.
  • Experience in Not- For- Profit industry.

Responsibilities

  • Billing/Vouchering for various contracts including Suffolk County Deficit Funding, OPWDD, ACCES-VR.
  • Making monthly Journal Entries to record the accounts receivable on the contracts.
  • Reviewing health insurance bills monthly to ensure they correspond with payroll.
  • Preparing monthly Journal Entry to allocate health insurance bills.
  • Preparation of NYS Gas Tax refund forms on a quarterly basis.
  • Capturing Food Stamp revenue for the IRA participants and preparing the corresponding Journal Entry.
  • Reviewing ISS Grant recipients’ documentation and check requests.
  • Preparation of corresponding backup spreadsheet.
  • Maintaining the Fixed Asset spreadsheets and reconciling the information to the General Ledger on a quarterly basis.
  • Assisting with annual budgets and audit and CFR preparation.
  • Prepare fringe reporting for the W-2’s and 1099’s.
