POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a new graduate or an experienced hire who would be excited to join a dynamic and highly collaborative team at a growing insurance company as a Staff Accountant. The primary responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to) the preparation of monthly general ledger entries and reconciliations. This position will report to the Oceanview Group Controller and is based in our Denver, Colorado office (in-office 3x/week).
Requirements

- Great communication, organizational, and presentation skills
- Experience with Microsoft Excel
- BA/BS in Accounting or Finance
- Interest in the insurance industry or financial services industry
Nice To Haves
- Prior internship experience or 1-2 years of experience in the insurance/financial services industry a plus
Responsibilities
- Produce journal entries for the monthly GAAP close based on data received from Oceanview’s investment manager and other internal groups
- Provide support for the monthly GAAP and Stat reporting process and annual report preparation
- Provide support for payments including invoices and investment transactions; adhere to policies and track required approvals
- Provide support as necessary to both external and internal auditors enabling the successful completion of internal reviews and controls - conducted quarterly and annually
- Provide extensive project support as needed, including, but not limited to, reinsurance, legal entity, regulatory, and cash transaction analysis
- Productively work with internal colleagues and investment manager team members in the Denver office as well as off-site locations
- Create and maintain internal control policies, processes, and compliance standards
- Keep management informed of any concerns for meeting set goals, clarifying duties, and training development needs that result in greater performance and personal growth
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
