About The Position

The Staff Accountant will manage full-cycle multi-state payroll, specialized compliance and complex tax reconciliations within a government contracting environment. This role is responsible for ensuring that all labor costs are accurately recorded in timekeeping and payroll systems, maintaining strict DCAA and DOL audit readiness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • 1–3 years of accounting or payroll experience, specifically within the Government Contracting industry.
  • Previous experience with reconciliations is required.
  • Understanding of SCA wage determinations and fringe benefit tracking.
  • Hands-on experience with Unanet ERP and ADP (Workforce Now) is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • High level of accuracy and the ability to identify and troubleshoot data discrepancies between systems.

  • Experience in complex fringe reconciliations is highly preferred.
  • "Audit-first" mindset with a focus on DCAA labor charging guidelines.
  • Ability to troubleshoot labor mapping errors between payroll and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Execute end-to-end multi-state payroll.
  • Ensure all pay rates align with SCA wage determinations and track Health & Welfare (H&W) fringe benefit obligations.
  • Process multi-state payroll in ADP and ensure the labor distribution in ADP matches Unanet labor report.
  • Reconcile payroll registers against the Unanet General Ledger to ensure accurate indirect rate calculations.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations of payroll tax filings (including Forms 940, 941, State/Local Tax forms and W-2).
  • Identify filing discrepancies and work with the ADP Tax Team to resolve issues or duplicate filings.
  • Monitor and audit timesheet exports to ensure employees are charging correctly to Direct, Indirect, or Overhead tasks in accordance with contract requirements and DCAA guidelines.
  • Maintain "audit-ready" records for DCAA or Department of Labor (DOL) inquiries, providing detailed labor distribution reports and proof of SCA compliance.
