About The Position

The Staff Accountant supports the Controller and Assistant Controller in carrying out the responsibilities of the Accounts Payable and Accounting Department at a regional, family-owned, professionally managed company serving the hospitality and healthcare markets. The role processes and records accounts payable transactions, prepares payments and accounting entries, maintains records, and reconciles accounts. It also provides financial, administrative, and clerical support and assists with daily, monthly, and year-end accounting operations.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience in accounting or a related field.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Nice To Haves

Accounting degree preferred.
Experience with MAS500 accounting software is a plus.

Responsibilities

Process and record accounts payable transactions, ensuring invoices and expense reimbursements are paid accurately and in accordance with Finance policies and procedures.
Prepare payments by accruing expenses and assigning account numbers.
Provide financial, administrative, and clerical support by ensuring payments are completed and expense accounts are charged by cost center.
Prepare accounting-related entries for registers, journals, and logs.
Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files and reconciling accounts.
Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
Assist the Controller with day-to-day, monthly, and year-end Accounts Payable and Accounting operations.
Follow the company's established accounting processes.
Perform other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as required by the Controller or Assistant Controller.
