About The Position

We are looking for a Cincinnati-based, diligent staff accountant to join our accounting department. The staff accountant's responsibilities include, but are not limited to maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, assisting with budget and close processes, and preparing materials for the annual audit process. They will also be assisting the CFO as needed and respond to information requests by management and for auditing purposes. To be successful as a staff accountant, you should be able to accurately maintain a general ledger and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). An outstanding staff accountant should also have excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
  • 3+ years’ experience in a full-time accounting position
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles
  • Excellent project and process management skills with a high degree of detail orientation
  • Experience with accounting and billing programs including QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, and Bills.com
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage deadlines and demands
  • Understands the importance of handling confidential financial information appropriately
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience managing multiple entities with intercompany transactions
  • Non-profit and education experience

Responsibilities

  • Maintain financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts for the Home Office/Schools within the ReGeneration Schools network.
  • Oversee receivables, payables, cash receipts, and cash disbursement transactions.
  • Prepare journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assist with monthly close processes including monthly ledger closing.
  • Prepare journal entries related to intercompany transactions and reconciliation of intercompany accounts.
  • Contribute to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections.
  • Review donations and grants received, record them in the general ledger according to non-profit accounting rules.
  • Respond to information requests, review financial statements, and assist with audits.
  • Prepare templates and provide support to outside firm for 990 filing.
  • Maintain fixed asset and associated depreciation schedules.
  • Participate in strategic team initiatives, special projects, and other duties and requests as needed.
