About The Position

This position is responsible for supporting core accounting operations by preparing and processing journal entries, assisting with system and process improvements and maintaining strong accounting controls, while also serving as the backup for Accounts Payable and Giving functions. This role upholds confidentiality and contributes to the financial integrity of The Church of Eleven22® and its subsidiaries.

Requirements

  • Fundamental knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Proficient with automated financial and accounting reporting systems
  • Strong computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Ability to adapt to change
  • Strong proactive communication skills
  • Skillful at building organizational relationships and partnerships and anticipating needs
  • Exceptional organizing abilities and attention to detail
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance strongly preferred
  • Two to four years of accounting experience with a solid understanding of the field’s core concepts, practices and procedures; experience with financial systems, budgeting, financial reporting, data analysis and auditing is preferred (non‑profit experience a plus)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare month-end close activities, including compiling and analyzing account information
  • Post and process journal entries to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded
  • Oversee subsidiary accounting for an affiliated entity, supporting accounts receivable activities, journal entries, and invoicing while maintaining strong accounting controls
  • Support daily accounting operations, including cash receipts, disbursements and general ledger activities
  • Collaborate and assist with accounting projects, including system and process improvements and giving‑platform support as needed
  • Prepare and file all required 1099 forms in compliance with federal reporting requirements
  • Investigate and resolve reconciling items and variances
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, church policies and internal controls
  • Maintain staff confidence and protect operations by keeping all financial information confidential
  • Assist with accounting projects and other duties as assigned
