About The Position

The Staff Accountant is responsible for creating, entering, and posting journal entries to the general ledger, reconciling bank statements, analyzing general ledger accounts for accuracy, and reviewing financial statements and other related reports. This role involves coordinating the monthly close, preparing account analysis and reconciliations, maintaining financial statement support documentation, and managing the Avalara sales and use tax system. The Staff Accountant also handles depreciation and fixed asset schedules, analyzes specific accounts, oversees intercompany transaction reconciliation, and assists in various audits and government questionnaires. Additionally, the position provides backup support for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll, and handles internal and external inquiries, while also maintaining a clean and safe work environment and continually seeking job efficiency improvements.

Requirements

  • Three to five years progressively more responsible experience.
  • A professional level of knowledge in a specialized field equivalent to that ordinarily acquired by completing a four-year baccalaureate program.

Responsibilities

  • Coordination of monthly close.
  • Create, enter, and post journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Prepare General Ledger account analysis, work papers and reconciliations monthly.
  • Responsible for maintaining schedules and support documentation for financial statements.
  • Print and review financial statements and reports for company and distribute.
  • Maintain Avalara sales and use tax system, including but not limited to; update required states to file in, ensure returns are filed timely and accurately, supervise monthly sales reconciliation, reconcile accrued sales tax account, and be a resource for AR and Customer Service on sales tax questions.
  • Maintain depreciation and fixed asset schedules on a monthly basis.
  • Analyze specific accounts as needed or requested by management.
  • Oversee intercompany transactions reconciliation.
  • Complete ad hoc analysis and reporting as needed.
  • Assist in audits as needed; sales tax, 401k plan, annual compilation etc....
  • Complete US Government census and survey questionnaires.
  • Backup to Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll as needed.
  • Handle internal and external questions in a prompt, professional manner.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
  • Continually look for ways to improve job efficiency and performance.
  • Perform all reasonably related duties as assigned
