About The Position

The Staff Accountant is responsible for managing financial records, preparing and analyzing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This role plays a critical part in budgeting, forecasting, and identifying cost-saving opportunities. The Staff Accountant collaborates with internal teams and external auditors to provide accurate and timely financial information, contributing to informed decision-making by stakeholders. Strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting software — particularly QuickBooks Online (QBO) — are essential for success in this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • 2–4+ years of progressive accounting or bookkeeping experience.
  • Experience managing full-cycle Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and payroll.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) required.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, formulas).
  • Knowledge of GAAP, financial statements, tax regulations, and accounting best practices.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly.
  • Collaborative team player with a customer-service mindset.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing organization.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA, CPA candidate, or Certified Bookkeeper (CB) certification preferred.
  • Healthcare or home care accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Paycor, AlayaCare, or similar payroll and healthcare software preferred.
  • Experience with payroll and accounting system integrations is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, reports, and account reconciliations.
  • Manage full-cycle Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes.
  • Reconcile payroll, bank transactions, and financial data in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
  • Process invoices, vendor payments, and support payroll administration.
  • Reconcile AR data from AlayaCare and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Partner with the Billing team to verify and post client payments accurately.
  • Generate and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare tax-related documentation and support compliance with accounting regulations.
  • Perform internal audits, identify discrepancies, and recommend process improvements.
  • Support and maintain accounting system integrations, including Paycor, AlayaCare, and QuickBooks Online.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of financial and payroll information.
  • Support special projects and perform other accounting duties as assigned.
