About The Position

Louisiana State University of Alexandria is a publicly supported institution that provides undergraduate level college education to the citizens of Central Louisiana. The university is a unit of the LSU System and operates under the auspices of the Louisiana Board of Regents. LSUA is located in Rapides Parish. This position involves auditing and reviewing student and customer account receivables, contacting individuals regarding past due accounts, and communicating with university departments to collect documentation for proof of debt. The role also includes preparing monthly collections files for the Louisiana Attorney General's Office, overseeing communications with this office, and processing monthly payments received from them. Additionally, the Staff Accountant will invoice external agencies and affiliates, reconcile financial aid disbursements, assist with monthly accounts receivable reconciliations, help at the cashiering window as needed, and aid in the implementation and upkeep of internal controls. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of three years of experience within an Accounting, Finance or Business-related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and direct experience with the Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer competency are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with multiple constituencies, both internal and external to an organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and direct experience with QuickBooks and Workday preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Audit and review student and customer account receivables for past due balances.
  • Contact students, customers, and external agencies regarding past due accounts.
  • Communicate with various University departments to collect documentation for proof of debt.
  • Prepare monthly collections file for submission to the Louisiana Attorney General's Office.
  • Oversee all communications with the Attorney General's Office.
  • Receive and process monthly payments from the Attorney General's office.
  • Invoice all external agencies and affiliates, including, but not limited to, military divisions, Louisiana Workforce, and various school boards.
  • Reconcile weekly financial aid disbursements.
  • Assist Director of Accounting Services with monthly accounts receivable reconciliations.
  • Assist at cashiering window as needed.
  • Assist in implementation and upkeep of internal controls.
  • Other duties as assigned.
