Cogent Talent Solutions•Oxford, CT

About The Position

We are seeking a highly driven, self-starting Staff Accountant with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and at least five years of hands-on experience. This is a sole-accountant role that combines high-level financial responsibilities with daily accounting and data entry. A critical priority is building inventory processes from the ground up, including evaluating, implementing, and managing an inventory tracking system as the organization scales. The Staff Accountant manages full-cycle accounting, document control and compliance, inventory tracking and valuation, general ledger operations, accounts payable and receivable, job costing, and month-end close. The role uses QuickBooks, ADP, and Excel for bookkeeping and reporting, and provides payroll-related assistance as needed. It also requires analyzing financial and job data, identifying variances, communicating findings directly, and supporting colleagues with financial, inventory, or administrative needs. The position calls for sound financial stewardship, adaptability, and a team-first approach in a dynamic, high-energy environment.

  • Self-starter with high accountability, strong analytical skills, and a direct, reality-based approach to financial reporting.
  • Willingness to support peers and shared team goals.
  • Ability to handle pressure and shifting priorities in a high-energy, dynamic atmosphere.
