About The Position

Sentinel Peak Capital Partners is seeking a Staff Accountant for its Dallas office. This individual will manage all accounting functions including month/quarter/year-end statements, bank and general ledger reconciliations, preparation of financial statements (modified cash basis, accrual and GAAP), trial balance, accounts payable and accounts receivable, partner distributions and purchase and sale transaction accounting. Creation of yearend tax preparation packages and integration of tax adjusting entries to current ledgers will be performed as well.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA designation preferred.
  • 4–6 years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate or property management.
  • Strong understanding of partnership accounting, GAAP principles, and multi-entity ownership structures.
  • Experience with multifamily accounting preferred; commercial real estate experience considered.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software; RealPage experience preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills with a proactive problem-solving mindset.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA designation preferred.
  • Experience with multifamily accounting preferred; commercial real estate experience considered.
  • RealPage experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage financial reporting for a portfolio of 10–12 properties.
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheets, bank accounts, and financial schedules.
  • Lead coordination with external CPA firms, auditors, and tax advisors.
  • Provide guidance and support to onsite property management teams.
  • Review financial reports and reconciliations prepared by Staff Accountants, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Recommend and implement necessary adjustments or improvements based on financial reviews.
  • Review general ledger activity, approve journal entries, and ensure accurate month-end closings.
  • Analyze financial statements and provide variance explanations.
  • Implement and enhance accounting policies, controls, and process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, partnership accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Oversee and support junior accounting staff, providing mentorship and training as needed.
