About The Position

Primary responsibility is to perform day-to-day accounting activities as assigned and assist other accounting staff as needed. Activities may include managing general accounting, accounts receivable, treasury, and travel.

Requirements

  • Participate in Core Connections training and apply GPTLHB Core Connections concepts and practices.
  • Familiarity and/or experience working with American Indian populations and respect for and knowledge of traditional, cultural, and spiritual practices of diverse American Indian communities, as well as an ability to work with other culturally and ethnically diverse populations.
  • Proficiency with computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other Internet technologies.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Keep certificates, credentials, or licenses current and consistent with applicable federal, state, and/or grant regulations.
  • Work in a cooperative and professional manner with OHC and GPTLHB staff.
  • Treat Great Plains tribes and collaborators with dignity and respect.
  • Utilize effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advance personal educational development by attending training sessions and seminars as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general accounting functions, including preparing journal entries, reviewing trial balance and general ledger for accuracy, preparing adjusting journal entries, and performing monthly credit card reconciliations.
  • Handle accounts receivable functions, such as monthly customer invoicing and entering deposits into the accounting system.
  • Manage grant-related functions, including calculating monthly indirect costs and creating journal entries, and assisting grant/program staff.
  • Perform treasury functions, such as preparing weekly cash drawdowns and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Process travel advance requests and employee expense reports.
  • Assist Controller, Asst Controller, Accounting Manager, and Accounting Analysts as needed.
  • Assist with monthly/year-end closing processes.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • File required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
  • Coordinate with software vendors to maintain the accounting software system and recommend updates.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Comply with federal laws and regulations as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
