About The Position

Direct Hire Seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to support construction operations. This position plays a critical role in overseeing daily accounting functions, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Job Cost Accounting to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely processing. The position requires a strong emphasis on job cost accounting, labor tracking, and compliance common to industrial construction environments. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is capable of supervising staff while also working closely with project management and field operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• 5 plus years’ experience in accounting preferably in heavy industrial or construction environments.
• Proficiency in accounting ERP system (data input, journal entries, report creation, trouble-shooting, training delivery to other staff members; experience with ComputerEase strongly preferred).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, reporting).

Responsibilities

• Overseeing and manage daily Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Job Cost functions.
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices, progress billings, payroll, vendor payments, and labor cost allocations.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, reports, and reconciliations; support month-end and year-end close activities.
• Utilize ComputerEase for job cost accounting, contract tracking, and financial reporting.
• Prepare and review financial reports related to project costs, labor, and overhead; support project managers with financial data.
• Coordinate with project managers and operations teams to resolve billing discrepancies, job cost issues, and payroll questions.
• Identify process improvements and implement solutions to enhance efficiency.
• Develop, review, and improve accounting procedures and internal controls.
