About The Position

The staff accountant position is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects, investigating variances, approving expenses, and ensuring that project billings are issued to customers and payments collected. This role involves applying company accounting policies, procedures, and U.S. GAAP principles in daily work, preparing and maintaining accurate accounting records, schedules, and reconciliations. The accountant will also record journal entries, maintain general ledger accuracy, and assist with various rollforward schedules and calculations for leases, rents, royalties, allowances, and similar recurring agreements. Communication with Operations during month-end close, assistance with the close process, and preparation of financial analyses and ad hoc reports are key aspects of the role. Additionally, the position supports internal and external audits and identifies opportunities for process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required).
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and general accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel required; Word and PowerPoint preferred).
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems (SAP preferred).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent financial reporting and reconciliation skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to collaborate effectively across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Apply company accounting policies, procedures, and U.S. GAAP principles in daily work.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate accounting records, schedules, and reconciliations.
  • Prepare and reconcile monthly balance sheet accounts, ensuring supporting documentation is complete.
  • Record journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy, including accruals and expense allocations.
  • Assist with rollforward schedules (e.g., fixed assets, leases, prepaids, accruals) as assigned.
  • Support preparation of calculations for leases, rents, royalties, allowances, and similar recurring agreements under the guidance of senior staff or management.
  • Communicate with Operations during month-end close to answer questions and provide support.
  • Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process.
  • Prepare financial analyses and ad hoc reports to support management as required.
  • Provide documentation and assistance for internal and external audits.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Contribute to departmental and organizational objectives by completing related tasks as assigned.
  • May be asked to travel within the U.S. to company sites as needed.
