About The Position

Workway is recruiting a Staff Accountant for an established credit union in San Diego, California. The role is responsible for balancing and reconciling assigned general ledger accounts, investigating discrepancies, and coordinating with other departments to resolve operational variances and stale-dated items. The position pays $30.00–$35.00 per hour; compensation may vary based on qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; two years of equivalent experience may substitute for each year of education.
Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, general ledger reconciliations, month-end closing processes, and financial reporting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Nice To Haves

At least one year of relevant accounting experience, preferably within a financial institution.
Experience with Symitar core banking software.

Responsibilities

Perform daily balancing of significant general ledger accounts, including branch cash and coin, ATM cash GLs, client GLs, transfer clearing GLs, and GL exceptions.
Research and resolve out-of-balance issues, discrepancies, incorrect entries, and other reconciling items.
Prepare monthly reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts.
Research and resolve stale-dated items within established timeframe guidelines for each general ledger account.
Communicate with other departments to resolve stale-dated items and operational variances.
