About The Position

Under general direction of the Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting in the accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of accounts payable and accounts receivable. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information. The Staff Accountant is responsible for ensuring that all accounting activities are performed accurately and efficiently, in accordance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations of the Gaming Commission, Federal and State Tax Commissions, and established policies, procedures and controls.

Requirements

  • Gaming industry experience preferred.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on Access, Excel, and Word.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and effective public speaking skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, tax rules and policies.
  • Ability to maintain concentration for extended periods of time and to handle multiple tasks and job duties simultaneously.
  • Proficient in computer usage
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Sac and Fox Nation Gaming License
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or finance required plus 1-3 years progressive financial experience within a gaming institution.
  • Gaming experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Draw together data from various systems to create and distribute reports used by executive level management in business decision making.
  • Coordinate, schedule and assist Management in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts from actual and estimated figures based on business trends.
  • Reviews slot and table game statistics as well as non-gaming activity; investigating and documenting any variances outside threshold set by management and regulations.
  • Monitors revenue and expenses; ensures expenditure control and compliance with funding and reporting requirements, and standard accounting procedures.
  • Review and post daily and month end journal entries into the accounting software.
  • Assists with preparation of all documents requested by internal and external auditors.
  • Works closely with the Chief Financial Officer, Controller and accounting staff on a daily basis by ongoing communication and consultation.
  • Performs monthly accounting duties in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, approved policies and procedures, NIGC MICS, Commission TICS, and accounting department reporting standards.
  • Assists in month end inventory counts within all departments and/or clients.
  • May be required to work holidays, weekends, and evenings to meet deadlines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
