About The Position

Value Drug Company is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to take on complex accounting work, improve processes, and partner with leaders on business decisions. The role helps ensure accurate financial reporting for the company and its subsidiaries and serves as a key bridge between staff accountants and finance leadership. It provides involvement in month-end close, reconciliations, audits, business analysis, executive-facing work, and strategic initiatives, with potential to grow into a future finance leadership role. The position is office-based in a professional, quiet work environment, with limited travel related to training only. The finance team is described as collaborative and values accuracy, improvement, and partnership.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
1–5 years of accounting experience in corporate and/or public accounting environments.
Strong expertise in GAAP, financial reporting, and consolidation.
Hands-on experience leading month-end close and preparing financial statements.
Solid ERP system experience and ability to troubleshoot accounting issues.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
Clear, professional communication skills and ability to partner across teams.
Continuous-improvement mindset and interest in leadership growth.

Responsibilities

Support and help lead the monthly close process across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Prepare and review journal entries and complex reconciliations.
Ensure the integrity of the general ledger and related subledgers.
Serve as a resource for GAAP compliance and internal accounting policies.
Support sales and use tax filings, ABL reporting, and other regulatory submissions.
Assist with financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical support for finance leadership.
Manage fixed assets, including capitalization, depreciation, and capital project tracking.
Support dividend, patronage, and stock-related activities.
Prepare consolidated and stand-alone financial statements and executive dashboards.
Administer unclaimed property reporting and 1099 compliance.
Coordinate documentation and issue resolution as a key liaison during audits and internal reviews.
Drive process improvements, automation efforts, and internal controls documentation.
Support ERP system enhancements and help train accounting staff on best practices.
Mentor junior accountants and assist with onboarding new team members.
Provide ad hoc financial analysis and support as business needs arise.
