About The Position

Quantum Fuel Systems is engineering the future of alternative fuel solutions. Based in Lake Forest, California, we're driving clean energy forward by helping our partners meet ambitious net-zero targets with safe, reliable, and sustainable solutions. Our product line includes next-generation fuel storage systems for commercial vehicles and virtual pipeline trailers that offer industry-leading capacity with advanced composite technology. We’re looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations in a fast-growing, private equity-backed manufacturing and engineering environment. This role is key to maintaining accurate financial records, supporting close processes, and contributing to reporting and audits. You’ll work cross-functionally and have visibility into the financial health of the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
  • 2–5 years of accounting experience (GL experience required)
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP; manufacturing/standard costing experience preferred
  • Regular and punctual onsite attendance for all scheduled work hours is an essential function of this position.
  • Candidates must have access to reliable transportation to ensure timely arrival for scheduled work hours and occasional off-site travel for business-related tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ERP systems (JD Edwards a plus)
  • Strong Excel skills (PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS)
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Support month-end and year-end close (journal entries, reconciliations, GL review)
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules
  • Own full-cycle Accounts Receivable (invoicing, collections, credit review)
  • Assist with audits, including documentation and auditor requests
  • Support ERP improvements and help build reporting dashboards
  • Provide backup for Accounts Payable as needed
  • Assist with tax filings and compliance
  • Contribute to ad hoc analysis and special projects
