Hawaii Behavioral Health is seeking a Part-Time Staff Accountant to join our Finance Team in Honolulu. The Staff Accountant will support daily and monthly accounting operations, including reconciliations, journal entries, accounts payable, payroll-related accounting, and financial reporting. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, reliable, and comfortable working with QuickBooks in a collaborative team environment.

Requirements

  • Experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or related finance role preferred
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar accounting software
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles (journal entries, reconciliations, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations in QuickBooks to ensure accurate financial records
  • Prepare and post month-end journal entries, including accruals and closing entries
  • Record payroll-related transactions, including payroll accruals and expense postings
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records using double-entry accounting principles
  • Reconcile accounts payable and ensure invoices are properly recorded and supported
  • Process and assist with accounts payable payments and vendor communications
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and support internal reporting needs
  • Assist with audit preparation, including gathering schedules and supporting documentation
  • Support external audits by providing reconciliation and responding to requests
  • Participate in accounting projects, process improvements, and special assignments as needed
