About The Position

We seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Staff Accountant II to join our accounting team. This role will lead accounts payable operations while taking on expanded responsibilities in financial analysis, process improvement, and mentoring junior team members. You'll manage the full AP cycle, contribute to financial reporting and analysis, and play a key role in month-end close processes. Requirements

  • 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with strong expertise in accounts payable and general accounting
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required
  • Thorough understanding of general ledger functions, account reconciliations, and month-end close procedures
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, complex formulas, data analysis)
  • Proven ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate across departments
  • Ability to identify process improvements and implement solutions

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Great Plains/Microsoft Dynamics strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all aspects of accounts payable operations, including invoice processing, vendor management, payment execution, and dispute resolution
  • Prepare, review, and post complex general ledger entries to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Perform detailed monthly bank and account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies independently
  • Take ownership of assigned areas during month-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
  • Conduct variance analysis and prepare financial reports to support management decision-making
  • Collaborate with Senior Accountants and the Controller on audits, special projects, and process improvement initiatives
  • Review and approve vendor invoices and employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies
  • Analyze financial data and trends to identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiency
  • Develop and maintain accounting procedures, policies, and internal controls to strengthen financial operations
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff as needed
  • Support weekly cash flow analysis and banking operations
