About The Position

Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant II will be responsible for preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules and ledgers, bank reconciliations, and ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with GAAP. The role participates in the month-end closing process, handles the posting and recording of cash deposits and revenue, manages fixed assets, assists with depreciation schedules and cost allocation plans, reconciles balance sheet accounts and bank statements, and assists with posting invoices. The Staff Accountant II also participates in external audits by preparing necessary schedules and work papers. This is primarily an office position with occasional bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting of office materials up to 25 pounds. It requires daily computer use and the ability to enter, view, and revise text and graphics. A valid California driver's license, proof of auto liability insurance, and use of a personal vehicle for work-related purposes are required. COVID vaccination and booster are required, or medical/religious accommodations will be considered.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, from an accredited college, required.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ accounting experience required, preferably in a healthcare setting, FQHC, or nonprofit organization, required
  • Proficient in use of MS Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the month end closing process ensuring all financial activity is accounted for in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Responsible for the posting and recording of cash deposits and revenue based on nature of the payments, working closely with grants management, development, billing, and pharmacy to obtain and understand deposit details.
  • Manage fixed assets, including asset tagging and assignment and maintaining related spreadsheets and balance sheet details.
  • Assist with the preparation of depreciation schedules ensuring depreciation is calculated properly and in a timely manner.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating cost allocation plans.
  • Responsible for posting monthly allocation of shared costs.
  • Ensures all shared costs are properly allocated on a monthly basis.
  • Reconciles all balance sheet accounts, monthly, ensuring balances are accurate and any discrepancies are resolved prior to month-end close.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with the posting of Home-Based Case Management Medi-Cal waiver invoices.
  • Participates in external audits and prepares any necessary schedules or work papers.
