About The Position

Fontaine Modification is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant II to join our Finance team. This role will support month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, inventory accounting, fixed assets, financial reporting, and operational accounting activities across multiple manufacturing and service locations. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting fundamentals, experience supporting a manufacturing or operational environment, and the ability to work with Accounting, Operations, Purchasing, Inventory Control, and leadership teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Clear communication skills and ability to work effectively with both finance and operations teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing, industrial, automotive, or distribution accounting experience.
  • Experience with inventory accounting, cost accounting, or manufacturing variance analysis.
  • ERP system experience such as Epicor, Acumatica, SAP, Oracle, or a similar platform.
  • CPA designation or CPA candidate preferred but not required.
  • Experience supporting multi-location operations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries as part of the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Assist with monthly financial statements, management reporting packages, and variance analysis.
  • Analyze general ledger activity and investigate unusual or unexpected account activity.
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and other financial planning activities as needed.
  • Assist with inventory valuation, cycle count reconciliation, and inventory reserve analysis.
  • Review manufacturing variances including material, labor, and overhead costs.
  • Partner with Operations and Inventory Control teams to help maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Support physical inventory counts, inventory reconciliations, and related audit procedures.
  • Monitor and reconcile inventory-related accounts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and supporting documentation.
  • Track capital expenditures and ensure proper accounting treatment.
  • Reconcile fixed asset additions, disposals, and transfers.
  • Assist with customer billing, cash application, and account research as needed.
  • Review vendor invoices and expense allocations for proper coding when requested.
  • Support resolution of invoice, payment, and account discrepancies.
  • Assist with external audit requests and internal control documentation.
  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for auditors.
  • Ensure accounting activity is completed in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Support improvements to accounting procedures, reporting processes, and internal controls.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting accuracy, efficiency, and consistency across locations.
  • Participate in ERP system enhancements, process automation, and cross-functional projects.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and financial analyses for Accounting and Operations leadership.
