Staff Accountant II
About The Position
This is a virtual role open to candidates working from Oregon or Washington. While the position is primarily virtual, there may be occasions when on‑site work is required at a designated Legacy Health location. All new hires are required to travel to a Legacy Health office in Portland, Oregon prior to their start date to complete a new‑hire health assessment and new‑hire paperwork. Initial training and orientation may be conducted on‑site before transitioning to the remote schedule. Everything we do at Legacy reflects our mission of making life better for others. Leveraging your strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, you will contribute to the success of the accounting department while continuing to grow your career.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent major or equivalent experience.
- Three to five years of previous experience in accounting and financial statement preparation or one to three years of public accounting experience.
- Must be able to work independently with strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate ideas, plans, and directions effectively verbally and in writing.
- Proficiency in intermediate PC spreadsheet abilities and in interfacing with complex computerized accounting systems.
Responsibilities
- Preparing and recording financial activity for assigned entities, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
- Analyzing revenue and expense activity and preparing month-end accrual and prepaid entries.
- Preparing materials for month-end close meetings and presenting results of operations to senior management.
- Preparing financial statements for various programs within assigned entities and provide clear documentation and analysis.
- Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including cash, and investigating and resolving variances and discrepancies.
- Applying knowledge of accounting principles and practices to complete detailed accounting tasks.
- Assisting internal and external auditors and stakeholders, supporting budget staff in developing budgets, communicating with Finance partners and management, and participating in special projects as needed.
