About The Position

Southern Land Company, a national real estate development and construction firm headquartered in Nashville, TN is seeking a full-time Staff Accountant - Hospitality to join our dynamic team. The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $90,000, based on experience. The Staff Accountant is a highly motivated professional responsible for assisting the hospitality and operations teams to provide timely and accurate financial reporting of assigned entities. Key responsibilities include managing full-cycle accounting, recording journal entries for month-end close, reconciling general ledger accounts on a monthly basis, completing monthly bank reconciliations, preparing financial statements, and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills required, including the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent time management skills, drive to take initiative, use of good judgment, strong sense of urgency and attention to detail, in order to carry multiple projects through to completion.
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight time constraints, as well as the ability to deal with frequent interruptions, unresolved situations, frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to deal professionally with clients, vendors, and co-workers through email, on the phone and in person.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Ability to keep sensitive information highly confidential.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize work and ask for further clarification when necessary.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, with strong knowledge of GAAP, accrual basis accounting and financial reporting.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years applicable accounting experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Real estate/hospitality related accounting experience a plus.
  • CPA license/CPA candidate considered a strong plus.
  • Sage Intacct experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly full-cycle accounting functions for multiple projects including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and monitoring/reviewing receivables and payables.
  • Assist with the month-end financial close process for multiple entities.
  • Assist with cash management of multiple entities.
  • Participate in special projects and prepare ad-hoc reports as required.
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements and related balance sheet reconciliations.
