About The Position

Join New Orleans Restoration Properties (NORP) as our Staff Accountant - Financial Operations and help invest in the future of New Orleans while building your career in real estate finance! You'll work under the direct mentorship of our Fractional CFO, gaining hands-on exposure to real estate development finance, compliance, and strategic decision-making. Requirements

2+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or related financial experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Solid working knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting
Strong proficiency in Excel and comfort learning accounting/ERP software
A genuine interest in using technology and automation to improve accounting processes and efficiency
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines independently
Clear written and verbal communication skills
A growth mindset and the drive to advance into a Controller-level role over time
Must have the ability to pass a background check and drug screening test.

Nice To Haves

Progress toward CPA certification
Experience or interest in real estate, property management, affordable housing, or nonprofit accounting
Exposure to LIHTC/HTC compliance or affordable housing finance
Experience supporting a fractional or outsourced CFO, controller, or accounting firm

Responsibilities

Own day-to-day administrative and financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance
Support month-end and year-end close processes under the guidance of the Fractional CFO
Assist in preparing financial statements, reports, and schedules for internal and external stakeholders
Maintain accurate, audit-ready financial records and supporting documentation, including for LIHTC/HTC compliance
Identify opportunities to streamline, automate, and modernize accounting workflows using technology and software tools
Support budgeting, cash flow tracking, and day-to-day banking administration
Help document and strengthen internal controls, and ensure adherence to established financial policies
Coordinate with property management, development, and external partners on financial data requests
Support audits, tax preparation, and compliance filings as needed
Take on progressively greater ownership of the accounting function, with a defined path toward a full-time Controller position
