Plans, coordinates, and directs the organizational development and training programs in the Social Services Department to help the organization meet its employee training and development needs. An employee in this class plans, organizes, and implements a variety of staff development and training programs for the department. Work includes overseeing activities related to training and staff development. The Training Manager develops and procures information, materials and training programs to provide information on professional development, conducts training needs assessments, plans staff resources and schedules, and coordinates the instruction of the programs. Work also requires coordination and input to the county level on centralized training needs and assisting with those efforts to ensure those efforts are coordinated at the departmental level. Work requires long term planning, considerable knowledge of development and training design and implementation, and ability to work with external and internal resources to implement the required staff development efforts. Work is differentiated from the Staff Development Supervisor by the scope and variety of problem identification, problem solving, decision making, consultation, and resources required for training development. This position is a staff representative for the Department Director, and directly supervises the staff development team. The employee is evaluated through conferences, observations, training efforts reviews, evaluations, records and reports.
