About The Position

Associated Students Inc., CSUF provides student development opportunities through leadership, volunteer, and employment experiences. In addition, the Associated Students provides campus community members with important social, cultural, and recreational opportunities, as well as, a wide range of programs and services. Under the direction of the Fitness and Wellness Coordinator, the Fitness and Wellness Graduate Assistant is responsible for assisting with leading and managing the daily operation of a comprehensive group fitness and personal training programs, cardio and weightroom floor operations, as well as assisting in the development of wellness programs and initiatives based out of the Student Recreation Center. The Fitness and Wellness programs include but are not limited to group exercise classes, dance and martial arts classes, functional fitness, yoga, and wellness events that run during academic and non-academic semesters. The Fitness and Wellness Graduate Assistant will also aid in collaborations with campus wellness programs such as TitanWell, CAPS, and Titan Health Services to provide students with wellness resources, events, and programming to enhance the CSUF student experience.

Requirements

  • Be enrolled (non-extended education) in a master’s program and maintain enrollment through term of employment
  • Be in good academic standing (cumulative GPA 2.0 or greater) and maintain Good Academic Standing through term of employment
  • Must complete: Bloodborne Pathogens, Campus Health and Safety Requirements, CSU’S Discrimination Harassment Prevention Program, Data Security and FERPA, Gender Equity and Title IX, Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) within 30 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Fitness of Wellness Experience preferred
  • Kinesiology or College of Health and Human Development preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing procedures and recommend policies that will ensure the effective day-to-day operation of all fitness and wellness programming and operations
  • Assist in developing comprehensive group exercise fitness schedules for the Group Fitness program
  • Assist Personal Training Lead in developing and managing scheduling system for personal trainers and their clients
  • Assist the Rec Attendants in the development and management of the cardio/weight room
  • Assist in collaborating with Operations Coordinator for facility reservations associated with program needs
  • Assist Fitness and Wellness Coordinator in the development of marketing campaigns for programs and services
  • Collaborate with Fitness and Wellness Coordinator to develop assessment tools for program satisfaction and improvement via surveys, focus groups, etc.
  • Deliver the highest standards of safety, security, building appearance and customer service
  • Assist in collecting, monitoring, and analyzing program use information to identify trends, and report data, trends, and recommendations to Fitness and Wellness Coordinator
  • Document all training and certifications
  • Assist Fitness and Wellness Coordinator in hiring, supervising, and evaluating fitness staff
  • Assist in conducting regular safety training and check-in meetings for staff
  • Evaluate and provide constructive/developmental feedback to student staff
  • Assist the Fitness and Wellness Coordinator in the development and execution of fitness and wellness special events
  • Assist the Fitness and Wellness Coordinator with planning and implementing campus health promotion programs.
  • Provide outreach and marketing of the Student Recreation Center and other Student Fitness and Wellness services.
  • Assist the Student Recreation Center Fitness and Wellness team in general departmental and clerical needs.
  • Other Duties as assigned
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with various A.S. and University departments
  • Ensures all operations are conducted with safety of staff and customers as first priority, and in accordance with the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan and other safety policies.
  • Reports accidents to supervisor and reviews changes required to avoid reoccurrence.
  • Reports maintenance problems and/or broken and unsafe equipment to the appropriate party or supervisor immediately
