About The Position

The Senior Welder B performs routine welding duties, including welding nozzles and fittings to tanks and heat exchanger shells and fitting nozzles or similar components to standard products using jigs and fixtures. The position uses gas metal arc welding (GMAW) and flux cored arc welding (FCAW) processes on fillet and groove joints, with or without backing. Work is performed primarily in flat and horizontal positions, with other welding tasks performed with assistance and supervision. The role works from drawings, specifications, Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), and verbal instructions; monitors work quality and follows company quality and safety protocols. It is an onsite, first-shift position based at the production site each day. The work environment is primarily a production floor where large equipment and noise are prevalent, and safety gear is required. The position has no direct reports and requires minimal to no travel.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to pass ASME Section IX welding tests using FCAW/GMAW and SAW processes; steel-to-steel, steel-to-stainless, and stainless-to-stainless materials; flat, horizontal, and vertical positions; with or without backing; and small pipe diameter in a rotated horizontal position.
At least 2 years of welding experience using drawings, specifications, charts, and welding equipment.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and apply them effectively to assigned work.
Ability to navigate multiple windows in the company ERP system to access production and resource data.
Ability to perform repetitive work requiring constant alertness or activity, including standing and lifting.
Ability to manage time effectively to meet strict deadlines and production volumes.
Judgment to comply with instructions, prescribed routines, methods, and practices.

Nice To Haves

Graduate of a welding and fabrication vocational or technical training program.
Experience welding in a pressure vessel fabrication shop.

Responsibilities

Work from standard drawings, specifications, WPS, and verbal instructions.
Use welding equipment and common hand and power tools.
Perform standardized final welding and fit-up work using fixtures and jigs to weld tanks and heat exchangers, primarily using FCAW and GMAW processes, with or without backing, in flat and horizontal positions.
Read and interpret basic drawings and perform simple layouts.
With assistance and supervision, perform more complicated welding using various equipment.
Read and interpret WPS variables and ensure all parameters are followed.
Monitor work quality, make corrective adjustments, and report equipment malfunctions, defective materials, or other unusual conditions to a supervisor.
Maintain required records, complete transactions in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, and access company intranet work instructions as needed.
Keep the work area neat, clean, and orderly, and follow safety regulations and practices.
Perform other related duties as assigned or directed.
