Sr. Video Editor (short-form)

DatabricksSan Francisco, CA
$176,200 - $242,350Onsite

About The Position

Databricks is looking for a Short-Form Video Editor to join our in-house brand team. In this role, you'll own the full lifecycle of short-form video for our brand channels — from topic planning and storyboarding through editing, motion graphics, and publishing. You'll take raw footage shot by our subject matter experts (engineers, researchers, product leaders) and shape it into scroll-stopping, on-brand video that makes complex data and AI topics feel relevant, human, and shareable. We need someone who can operate editing software fluently, but who also has the creative judgment to know what makes a video work — the hook, the pacing, the caption strategy, the platform-native feel — and who understands how AI is changing both video production and content discovery.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional video editing experience, ideally with in-house or agency experience producing short-form social content for a brand.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating short-form editing (15–90 second formats): hook design, pacing, storytelling in compressed formats, and platform-native style.
  • Proficiency in professional editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro and/or DaVinci Resolve; After Effects for motion graphics).
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted video editing and production tools, and interest in keeping pace with how AI is changing the editing workflow.
  • Working knowledge of AIO/GEO principles and how they intersect with social content strategy — or strong aptitude and interest in developing this.
  • Motion graphics and animation skills: lower thirds, kinetic typography, simple data visualizations, branded templates.
  • Content marketing sensibility: comfortable turning a brief or a long-form asset into a short-form video concept and shot list without heavy hand-holding.
  • Understanding of audio editing/sound design and caption/text-overlay design for sound-off viewing.
  • Ability to manage multiple videos in production simultaneously and hit fast turnaround deadlines in a high-volume content environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in film, media, design, or related field — or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience translating technical or B2B subject matter into accessible, engaging content is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Built a repeatable short-form content engine for Databricks' brand channels, establishing a topic pipeline and storyboarding process.
  • Turned raw SME footage into a recognizable, high-performing video style with tight, retention-optimized cuts that feel native to each platform.
  • Made AI tools a core part of the production workflow, integrating AI-assisted editing, transcription, captioning, and repurposing tools.
  • Ensured Databricks' short-form content is measurably easier to find and surface, including by AI answer engines, with video produced with AIO/GEO best practices in mind.
  • Elevated the brand's video content beyond straight cuts with animated explainers, kinetic text, and simple data visualizations.
  • Collaborated with cross-functional partners, running with a brief and acting as an owner of the video format.
  • Used video performance data to actively shape future content, tracking engagement and retention metrics to adjust format, pacing, and topic selection.
