About The Position

Columbia’s Merchandising Team is hiring a Sr. Merchandiser – United States (US) Footwear, based at our Corporate Headquarters in Portland, Oregon. Reporting to the Director, North America Footwear Merchandising, the Sr. Merchandiser – US Footwear is a senior member of the Footwear Merchandising team. This role is responsible for shaping and executing the footwear category strategy to drive growth across the US region while ensuring alignment with global brand priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, applicable certification or equivalent experience.
  • 5-8 years of product or merchandising experience in the sportswear, outdoor or action sports industry.
  • Strong market and trend knowledge in footwear; proven merchandising and assortment planning experience.
  • Cross‑functional collaboration and account presentation skills.
  • Commercial acumen with ability to translate insight into seasonal and long‑term plans.
  • Knowledgeable in the product creation process and the roles of other functions including Sales, Demand Planning, Global Merchandising, Costing, Sourcing, Design, Development, Marketing and Finance.

  • Capable of managing the seasonal product adoption & assortments for the US market (from concept to sales meeting) to ensure seasonal financial targets and style count targets are met.
  • Able to provide clear product direction and market intelligence that drive assortment decisions and commercial outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the seasonal and multi‑year footwear strategy for the region, informed by market trends, consumer insight, and competitive analysis.
  • Own seasonal briefs, line adoption, pricing, assortment direction, and style forecasts to meet financial and style‑count targets.
  • Work closely with Merchandising leadership, Sales, Planning and Global Merchandising to incorporate regional needs into the global line plan and ensure execution against targets.
  • Pre‑line key accounts with compelling stories and initiatives; educate the sales force on product innovation, technologies, assortments and marketing support.
  • Lead workstreams with Sales and Planning to define seasonal and long‑term growth plans, assessing financial risk and reward.
