About The Position

Philadelphia Insurance Companies, a member of the Tokio Marine Group, designs, markets and underwrites commercial property/casualty and professional liability insurance products for select industries. We have been in operation since 1962 and are nationally recognized as a member of Ward's Top 50 and rated A++ by A.M.Best. We are looking for a Sr. Underwriter I to join our Public Service team working hybrid out of any of our PHLY offices! This role determines acceptability, conditions and pricing of specific property & casualty (P&C) insurance risks and agrees on coverage within regulatory requirements, corporate product offerings and designated authority level.

Requirements

College Degree or equivalent experience, plus CPCU, AU or other designation-related coursework
5 or more years of underwriting experience with a carrier handling Commercial Package business in a production-focused underwriting capacity
Excellent analytical and communication skills
Ability to be detail oriented in a fast-paced environment
Ability to travel in assigned geographic territory on agency calls

Responsibilities

Underwrites large, complex property & casualty (P&C) insurance risks
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of loss experience and business conditions of key accounts as well as loss trends and any relevant legal or economic factors regarding the property & casualty business
Participates on a team of underwriters and other staff to meet the property & casualty insurance and service needs of large multi-product customers
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all products, services, priorities and target markets in the property & casualty line of business or insurance segment
May accompany marketing representative or represent the company on appointments in assigned territory and industry events
May develop and maintain relationships with agency representatives
May negotiate new and renewal business in partnership with Marketing to drive profitable growth
May support profit improvement initiatives in partnership with Marketing Department
