About The Position

Responsible for underwriting insurance/reinsurance portfolios by developing business from assigned broker accounts, evaluating risk submissions, and contributing to overall business growth while maintaining profitability targets and risk appetite guidelines.

Requirements

  • 2-10 years of relevant multi-line general insurance/reinsurance underwriting experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Excellent negotiation and documentation abilities
  • High attention to detail
  • Risk assessment and decision-making
  • Customer service orientation

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Professional insurance qualifications preferred (CPCU, ARe, RPLU)

Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate insurance/reinsurance submissions to identify profitable opportunities consistent with business plans
  • Deliver underwriting decisions following established processes and authority levels
  • Rate premiums and apply terms and conditions in accordance with underwriting guidelines and binding authorities
  • Work with actuarial teams to determine optimal pricing and structure for new and renewal business
  • Conduct underwriting audits and ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with assigned broker/intermediary accounts
  • Respond to enquiries from brokers via phone, email, letter, or fax in a courteous and timely manner
  • Negotiate treaty terms, conditions, and participations with brokers and clients
  • Provide customized solutions based on thorough understanding of customer needs
  • Manage customer interactions efficiently to ensure high levels of satisfaction
  • Proactively identify and pursue up-selling and cross-selling opportunities
  • Market services to brokers and clients to maximize profitable revenue potential
  • Achieve agreed business targets for new and renewal business
  • Contribute to overall business growth objectives
  • Prepare and issue quotations, policy documents, and invoices
  • Update client records and maintain accurate filing systems
  • Issue written confirmations for accepted quotations with full coverage details
  • Manage renewal processes 4-6 weeks before renewal dates
  • Ensure paper files and system records are properly maintained
  • Coordinate activities with Claims, Accounting, Legal, and Finance departments
  • Work closely with collection teams to resolve payment discrepancies
  • Assist with claims notification procedures and direct inquiries to appropriate partners
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects as required
