As a Transportation Manager, you are responsible for managing the transportation of goods from suppliers to customers. This position involves coordinating shipping schedules, optimizing routes, and ensuring compliance with regulations. You will work closely with carriers and internal teams to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of products. Your role includes coordinating and optimizing the movement of daily outbound product shipments to meet customer demands and inbound raw material and component shipments to meet site consumption requirements. Additionally, you will provide technical support for related on-site service providers, off-site warehouses and terminals, and various other distribution-related business activities and contracts. You will be accountable for significant third-party operations on or offsite, support contract negotiation/execution, and mentor other colleagues in the transportation field.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Longstanding experience within Supply Chain/Logistics Operation, e.g., Rail, Ocean, Inland Waterway, Truck, and/or Storage
  • Experience in management of third-party site operations
  • Experience with rules and regulations surrounding the transportation and warehousing of dangerous goods
  • Experience with SAP modules such as Production and Planning (PP-OPO, PP-PI, Logistics Information System, and TLM) and MS Office applications
  • Knowledge of business processes in one or more areas of material management, logistics, quality management, or production planning
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • BA/BS in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum of 10+ years of successful experience or a Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of track record in a manufacturing/supply chain organization

Responsibilities

  • Work as an individual contributor and as part of a diverse team composed of engineers, operations personnel, and leadership
  • Support onsite customers with inbound raw material and component shipments, including scheduling, tracking, tracing, and expediting
  • Manage significant third-party transportation operations on or offsite, including supporting contract negotiations, leading contract execution, conducting quarterly performance reviews, and steering daily operations
  • Serve as a coach and mentor for junior colleagues in the transportation arena
  • Perform work in a manufacturing environment, which includes wearing PPSs, visiting the manufacturing areas, and following all safety procedures and guidelines
  • Become a SAP.TLM User Expert and support area SAP/TLM end users with daily issues
  • Ensure site compliance with DOT regulations
  • Manage multiple activities at one time and handle long-term projects as assigned
