Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Business and/or Logistics, Supply Chain, Legal, or similar field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in trade compliance or closely related field.
  • Deep understanding of trade compliance concepts, including HTS and ECCN classification, country of origin determination, valuation for import, export control and sanctions compliance.
  • Intermediate knowledge of ERP business systems, global trade compliance software, and transportation management systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft programs, Adobe, SharePoint, and other productivity applications.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, power query, complex formulas).
  • Experience with Power BI or similar data reporting systems (data modeling, dashboards, reporting).
  • Ability to recognize improvement and control opportunities within Trade Compliance, including advising, auditing, quality control and continuous improvement skills.
  • Understand governmental regulations required to maintain compliance and retain trade privileges.
  • Thoroughness and accuracy – ability to be detail oriented, either written, orally, or presented.
  • Ability to break down requirements to task levels to achieve project level accomplishment.
  • Self-starter, able to identify an issue and drive to completion.

Nice To Haves

  • Data analytics experience is highly valued—trade compliance experience is a plus but not required. We will provide training and mentorship in global trade compliance for the right candidate.
  • Experience with Oracle, Oracle GTM or other ERP systems.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • LCB, CCS/CCLS, CGBP CUSECO or similar certification helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing import/export activities, ensuring compliance, and implementing best practices for reporting and recordkeeping.
  • Assisting in process automation for both internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Auditing and classifying products based on international rules and tariff schedules.
  • Managing free trade activities.
  • Reviewing customs valuation methods.
  • Assessing associated benefits and risks in relevant countries.
  • Manage specific product categories from a trade compliance perspective, providing HTS, country of origin, and tariff impact and mitigation analysis, including Section 232/301, ADD/CVD, and FTA eligibility.
  • Act as primary point of contact for Engineering and Product Line Managers in all trade compliance matters related to new product development and continuous improvement engineering of existing products.
  • Lead complex country of origin determinations, applying substantial transformation, essential character, and totality-of-circumstances principles, supported by CBP ruling precedent, reasonable care documentation, and collaboration with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
  • Translate regulatory requirements and analytical findings into clear recommendations for Finance, Operations, Procurement, Engineering, and business partners to support business strategy definition.
  • Provide guidance to internal business units regarding best practices for international shipping and customs clearance.
  • Research and monitor local laws, regulations, procedures, and requirements related to import/export transactions.
  • Prepare and distribute summaries of new regulations for use by internal stakeholders such as Supply Chain, Procurement, Transportation, and other business unit contacts.
  • Communicate with brokers, forwarders, external vendors and customers as needed.
  • Develop, document, and manage processes for compliance programs and initiatives.
  • Supports the implementation of systems automation.
  • Execute team processes as directed and identify opportunities for process automation and optimization.
  • Support post-entry audit procedures related to HTS, country of origin, and valuation to ensure compliance with applicable import regulations.
