About The Position

We are seeking a strategic and experienced Sr. Total Rewards Manager to lead the design, administration, and continuous evolution of our compensation, benefits, and wellness programs. This highly visible role serves as the organization's subject matter expert for Total Rewards and is responsible for the operational and financial oversight of our self-funded health plan, compensation architecture, HRIS benefits administration, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in self-funded healthcare plans, compensation strategy, vendor management, and HR technology. This individual will partner closely with Executive Leadership, Human Resources, and Finance to develop data-driven programs that attract, retain, and reward top talent while ensuring financial stewardship and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years of progressive experience leading compensation and benefits programs, including strategic Total Rewards initiatives.
  • Five (5) or more years of direct experience managing self-funded medical plans, including claims analysis, stop-loss administration, vendor management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience developing compensation strategies, salary structures, market pricing, and pay equity initiatives.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, reporting, financial modeling, and data analysis.
  • Experience administering HRIS/payroll systems, preferably Paycom.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, project management, and organizational skills with the ability to influence leaders across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day administration of the organization's self-funded medical, dental, vision, and wellness programs.
  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for third-party administrators (TPA), pharmacy benefit managers (PBM), stop-loss carriers, brokers, consultants, and other benefits vendors.
  • Monitor healthcare claims utilization, identify trends, evaluate high-cost claimants, and recommend cost-containment strategies.
  • Oversee stop-loss coverage, reimbursements, renewals, and vendor performance.
  • Develop and implement wellness and population health initiatives that improve employee engagement while managing healthcare costs.
  • Evaluate plan performance annually and recommend enhancements to remain competitive while balancing financial sustainability.
  • Administer the organization's compensation philosophy, salary structures, and market pricing programs.
  • Conduct compensation analyses and recommend salary adjustments, position differentials, retention bonuses, and incentive programs.
  • Partner with department leaders to ensure competitive compensation practices that support recruitment and retention.
  • Lead annual market benchmarking and pay equity analyses.
  • Serve as the organization's subject matter expert for Paycom Benefits Administration and Payroll modules.
  • Configure benefit plans, automate payroll deductions, and optimize system functionality to eliminate manual processes.
  • Lead annual Open Enrollment planning, testing, implementation, employee communications, and post-enrollment audits.
  • Identify opportunities to improve automation, reporting, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, Section 125, FMLA, and other applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Coordinate annual compliance reporting, audits, plan documents, and required filings.
  • Maintain accurate plan documentation and employee communications.
  • Monitor legislative changes affecting compensation and benefits programs and implement required updates.
  • Partner with Finance to review monthly premium equivalents, reserve funding, healthcare trends, budgeting, and financial forecasting.
  • Analyze benefits utilization and compensation data to support executive decision-making.
  • Develop executive dashboards and reports highlighting healthcare trends, compensation metrics, vendor performance, and program effectiveness.
  • Recommend innovative strategies that enhance employee value while responsibly managing organizational costs.
