Sr. Technical Trainer
About The Position
Meier Supply is a 100% employee-owned wholesale distributor of HVAC/R products, based in Conklin, New York, with branches throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. The Senior Technical Trainer plans, develops, and delivers technical training for employees and customers across the Rochester, Buffalo, and Syracuse region. Training may be delivered in person or virtually, at branches and the corporate distribution center, and occasionally at customer jobsites. The role also provides technical support, maintains training courses and equipment, and works with LMS administration to make employee training available. Travel within the assigned region may reach 75%. The position involves a mostly branch- and distribution-center-based work environment, with some indoor or outdoor jobsite work and moderate physical activity.
Requirements
- HVAC knowledge and experience.
- At least a two-year technical degree.
- At least two years of experience providing technical training.
- Extensive working knowledge of designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating training plans, curricula, and methodologies.
- Ability to adapt verbal and written communication styles to the audience.
- Strong consulting, interpersonal, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated experience coaching and mentoring others.
- Ability to understand and develop task-based exercises around highly technical content.
- Mature understanding of mechanical, electrical, and other building systems.
- Proficiency with PC productivity tools.
- Project management and presentation skills, including the ability to resolve complex problems and issues.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a complex environment.
- Ability to travel up to 75% within the assigned region.

Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and provide employee technical training through classroom sessions, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops.
- Design and implement training programs for Meier Supply customers at all locations.
- Present information using techniques such as simulations, team exercises, group discussions, and role playing.
- Coordinate speakers and topics for Meier University.
- Monitor, evaluate, and record training activities for effectiveness.
- Maintain and update existing courses, including their content and delivery methods.
- Provide technical support to sales staff and customers by phone and email.
- Assist customers with jobsite troubleshooting.
- Promote productive relationships with branch managers, sales employees, and division managers.
- Keep current with technical training methods, topics, and marketing efforts to improve training programs.
- Maintain instructional equipment and labs according to manufacturer operating instructions.
- Work with LMS administration to load appropriate training for employees.
