Role Summary As Vehicle Hardware Engineering (VHE) Sr. Technical Program Manager, you will have the responsibility of managing the development and delivery of VHE sub-systems from concept to market execution within the program timeline and established cost, mass, investment and performance targets. A successful candidate exhibits a proactive, positive attitude towards difficult engineering challenges. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on overall program deliverables and report on status and risks to ensure visibility across teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in engineering or equivalent technical degree.
  • 5+ years’ experience of Automotive product development, ideally experiencing at least 1 vehicle launch.
  • Detailed knowledge of the automotive design and development process, system requirements, and general engineering best practices.
  • The ability and eagerness to lead a multi disciplinary team through a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Outstanding communication skills for both detailed technical discussions and high level executive audiences.
  • A demonstrated ability to solve problems using a first-principal approach
  • Excellent commercial and financial awareness.
  • Knowledge of materials, processes, & technologies used to deliver hardware engineering content .
  • Knowledge in operating CAD systems, preference towards CATIA experience.
  • Travel Requirements: As needed based on production support and priorities

Responsibilities

  • Lead a matrix organization to ensure delivery of vehicle hardware engineering sub-systems through the complete Rivian Development Process.
  • Champion and drive cross-functional issue resolution (RCs), change management (CRs/CAs), Deviations (DVI), and large program changes (PCCR).
  • Drive the key external departments towards alignment on program execution direction (Purchasing, Manufacturing, Finance, Quality, Attributes, Studio, other PD functions).
  • Manage key performance metrics including issues and change management, quality, validation, and sub-system performance.
  • Support sub-system imperative balance. The TPM must ensure piece cost, tooling, ED&D, mass etc, are cascaded, communicated, reported, and achieved through the RDP.
  • Verify all VHE components and systems meet the vehicle requirements and assist engineers with solving and managing cross-functional issues.
  • Own the creation of sub-system development timing plans including supplier sourcing, surface release, engineering release, virtual validation loops, tooling timing, part maturation, and validation.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of plans to ensure on-time delivery of parts to Mule and pre-production builds, establishing and implementing recovery plans as needed.
  • Coordinate cross-functional issue resolution on-site at launch locations.
