About The Position

Amazon LEO is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Amazon LEO will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity. This role is within the Optical Inter-Satellite Link (OISL) team within Amazon's Leo organization. The position involves leading strategic initiatives for the OISL team in delivering cross-functional programs for space-based optical communication systems, driving the Rhythm of Business for the OISL team, managing complex stakeholder relationships with senior leadership, finance, and engineering teams, and ensuring 100% delivery against critical satellite milestones—from prototyping through production to on-orbit operations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum due to applicable export control laws and regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Responsibilities

  • Drive OP1 planning and execution processes across multiple cross-functional teams
  • Manage complex budget tracking
  • Research and provide trade analysis for infrastructure investments
  • Implement and sustain Amazon's Working Backwards methodology (PR/FAQ, MBR/QBR cadence, written narratives) adapted for hardware development cycles
  • Review program metrics across the OISL portfolio using Confluence, Jira, and Smartsheet dashboards tracking 35–70 KPIs
  • Partner closely with finance, engineering leads, and senior Amazon Leo leadership to resolve cross-project resource conflicts and drive decisions on yellow/red items
  • Coordinate across multiple hardware development projects
  • Manage dependencies
  • Guide OP1 planning
  • Ensure alignment between OISL and the broader Amazon Leo organization
