About The Position

Archer is hiring a Senior Systems Engineer to join its Development Assurance team and help launch its first certified aircraft. The role will architect the engineering framework that governs development, defining, deploying, and continuously improving processes and toolchains that support quality, safety, efficiency, and compliance with aerospace standards. The position bridges engineering execution and company strategy, with a focus on ARP4754A and on producing clear, traceable evidence for audits and certification. The engineer will define and govern standards, templates, and quality criteria for development artifacts; partner with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate compliant practices into daily workflows; and provide training, coaching, and support. The role also collaborates with Product Lifecycle Engineering and Tools teams to configure the engineering toolchain for process compliance, automated traceability, and lifecycle management of certified artifacts.

  • Background in complex hardware/software certification standards (RTCA DO-178 / DO-254).
  • Experience customizing or improving requirements management workflows.
  • Hands-on experience developing mechanical systems or aircraft structures.
  • Experience conducting audits of engineering development processes.
  • Experience defining and applying configuration management strategies.
  • Experience interacting with a certifying authority regarding System Development and Safety certification.
  • Experience developing cross-program processes and guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the definition, implementation, and continuous improvement of a comprehensive Systems Engineering framework compliant with ARP4754A.
  • Ensure engineering processes and artifacts meet the objectives of ARP4754A, DO-178C, and DO-254 and produce traceable evidence for audits and certification.
  • Define and govern standards, templates, and quality criteria for key development artifacts.
  • Coach engineering teams on the purpose of processes and incorporate their feedback to improve the system.
  • Partner with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate compliant processes and artifact standards into their workflows.
