About The Position
This position is for an experienced system engineer who can work in and/or lead a multi-disciplinary team to develop, maintain, verify and communicate the requirements baseline for a mission that includes Segment, Element (payload, spacecraft bus, and ground) and/or Subsystems. You will work within your program teams alongside a team of engineers through the program life cycle to develop, and manage requirements for, different specifications for various complex, high precision, and high reliability applications. Requirements
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 4 or more years related experience.
- The ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
- Familiarity with spacecraft system design and test.
- Experience using requirements database tools (DOORS, Jama, Cameo Requirements Modeler, e.g.)
- Demonstrated ability to review effective and verifiable requirements – detail oriented.
- Demonstrated experience in systems engineering processes, including requirements development, requirement allocation, change management, verification and validation – a self-starter that will own this activity.
- Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams including meeting schedule and performance goals.
- Good presentation skills with experience presenting to senior decision making and technical audiences.
Nice To Haves
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience.
- Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
Responsibilities
- Provide systems engineering support and leadership to technical teams in the development, verification, delivery, and operations of Missions, Segments, Elements, and Subsystems.
- Support the proper allocation, traceability, and verification of requirements at all levels through the lifecycle of the program.
- Interact with multiple subject matter experts to develop the required allocation analysis and verification artifacts.
- Use Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) for architecture to requirements traceability and interface development.
- Interface with and support the program’s Lead/Chief System Engineer, Chief Engineer and Customer.
- Support expectations, preparations, and delivery for major gate reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, PSR).
- Coordinate requirements verification with I&T activities.
- Mentor other system engineers assigned to the team.
- Support the program Risk & Opportunity Management and ERB processes.
- Prepare and give presentations to peers, management, and customers.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company.
- Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
