About The Position

Nintendo Technology Development (NTD) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nintendo Co., Ltd., based in Redmond, Washington. NTD focuses on creating future hardware and software technology and researching North American-based technologies. This role involves building and maintaining solutions in public cloud environments (AWS and Azure), on-premises virtualization platforms (OpenStack, OpenNebula), and Kubernetes infrastructure. The position requires ensuring high levels of system availability, managing performance, monitoring, backups, troubleshooting, and maintaining system security through firewalls, SSL, VPNs, patching, and updates. The engineer will also be responsible for resolving hardware, software, and networking issues, performing routine system upgrades, security compliance checks, providing technical support for escalated issues, responding to critical incidents, and documenting system configurations and procedures. Additionally, the role involves researching emerging tools and technologies to improve automation, security, and performance, and collaborating with other professionals to ensure high-quality deliverables.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in Cloud infrastructure administration/engineering and Linux system administration/engineering.
  • Expert level understanding of OpenStack/OpenNebula or similar cloud orchestration solution is required.
  • Expert level understanding of designing and managing Kubernetes clusters is required.
  • Expert level understanding of designing and managing solutions in AWS and Azure is required.
  • Enhanced troubleshooting skills within the server OS, KVM, Kubernetes environments is required.
  • BS or MS in engineering, computer science, a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid passport may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Expert level understanding of TCP/IP, network services, and storage systems is a plus.
  • Experience installing and maintaining distributed storage solutions like CEPH is a strong plus.
  • Automation mastery: Advanced skills in Ansible, Jenkins, Python/bash scripting.
  • Experience with Ubuntu/Canonical tools like MAAS, Landscape etc. is a plus.
  • Experience with Terraform, Helm, or cloud-native monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
  • AWS Professional solutions architect certification is a plus.
  • Azure Solutions architect expert certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain solutions in public cloud solutions - AWS and Azure.
  • Build and maintain on-premises virtualization platforms (e.g. OpenStack, OpenNebula).
  • Build and maintain Kubernetes infrastructure.
  • Ensure the highest level of systems and infrastructure availability.
  • Manage system performance, monitoring, backups, and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure system security by configuring firewalls, SSL, VPNs, and applying patches and updates.
  • Monitor and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues in a timely manner.
  • Perform routine system upgrades, patching, and security compliance checks.
  • Provide troubleshooting and technical support for escalated issues.
  • Provide emergency responses to critical outages or incidents.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for internal use.
  • Research emerging tools and technologies that help improve automation, security and performance.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to ensure high-quality deliverables within organization guidelines, policies, and procedures.
