Sr. Systems Engineer/Modeler

About The Position

Leidos has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Sr. Systems Engineer - Modeler in our Intel Sector-Cyber & Analytics Business Area (CABA). Our talented team is at the forefront in Security Engineering, Computer Network Operations (CNO), Mission Software, Analytical Methods and Modeling, Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), and Cryptographic Key Management. In this role as Sr. System Engineer - Modeler, you will join a high performing agile team operating within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology. The program supports a broad range of activities, including capability modernization, legacy system integration, Agile software development and modernization, cybersecurity, systems security compliance and certification, COTS integration, test and evaluation, implementation, and operations and maintenance (O&M) activities. The selected individual will work closely with customer technical representatives and senior leadership to support engineering discovery, help shape a multi-year solution, and ensure an integrated approach is applied to achieve customer mission objectives. This role will also involve helping to guide technical teams through the successful development of large-scale, highly complex capability development as part of a broader integrated system development effort. The selected candidate will collaborate with a team of Model Based Systems Engineers using DODAF and Unified Architectural Framework (UAF) methodologies. This individual must be able to effectively engage with and brief a variety of stakeholders, including company points of contact, customers, partners, and subcontractors, in support of developing comprehensive architecture artifacts. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as this role required the ability to influence, motivate, and work effectively across diverse Agile development teams. The ideal candidate will be highly collaborative, team-oriented, and focused on advancing the strategic goals of the customer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science, or a related field, and at least 12 years of related experience. Additional relevant work experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Extensive experience in one or more of the following areas: system architecture, design and development, requirements analysis, data flow design and analysis, network design and implementation, testing, and technical system documentation.
  • Proven experience with, or strong familiarity with, System Engineering modeling tools and Model Based Systems Engineering using DODAF and/or Unified Architectural Framework (UAF) methodology.
  • Experience supporting legacy system integration and developing plans and strategies for continuous modernization.
  • Experience working with government customers and contractor personnel to formulate, review, and execute task plans, while ensuring deliverable are completed in accordance with approved plans.
  • Strong background in quality management and process improvement.
  • TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance required.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 5 years of direct experience with Systems Engineering modeling tools.
  • At least 5 or more years of experience applying SAFe for large systems development.
  • Experience developing and simulating systems engineering models.
  • Experience with, or familiarity with DODAF 2.0.
  • Experience transitioning legacy systems to modern architectures.
  • Experience delivering briefings to a wide range of stakeholders, including technical teams, program leadership, customers, and executive levels.
  • CAMEO experience is a plus.

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Mentor team members to support high performance.
