Sr Switchgear Mechanical Engineer

RESA Power•Plant City, FL
•$120,000 - $140,000

About The Position

This position develops custom solutions for projects that progress from concept through design and production. The engineer creates, updates, and releases mechanical drawing packages for assigned projects in compliance with customer and industry specifications. The role designs low- and medium-voltage switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), and associated mechanical layouts and assembly drawings, and provides technical support to fabrication, assembly, manufacturing, sales, and distributors. The position works with electrical engineering and other teams to produce accurate, timely drawings that support production schedules and customer requirements. Work includes developing sheet-metal enclosures for electrical equipment in accordance with ANSI/NEMA standards for indoor and outdoor installations; preparing sheet-steel, structural-steel, and copper part and assembly drawings; and producing manufacturing details such as flat patterns, bend profiles, weldments, subassemblies, equipment views, and lifting details. The engineer also prepares bills of material, creates component arrangements from electrical bills of material, and performs sizing and bracing calculations for copper busbar systems. Drawings are created using AutoCAD and/or 3D SolidWorks. The role requires applying technical knowledge to complex problems, managing multiple jobs and competing requirements, and working independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively with peer, production, sales engineering, and customer-facing teams. Travel may be required up to 20%. The position is intended for one full-time employee and will remain open until filled.
