About The Position

Visa is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, implement, and improve software applications and systems. Engineers spend approximately 60–75% of their time coding and work hands-on with code, data, and modern tools—including AI-assisted development, cloud services, and automation frameworks—to deliver secure, scalable, high-quality technology solutions in the fintech sector. The role collaborates with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions while following best practices, security standards, and regulatory requirements. Digital fluency, including use of generative AI tools such as ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot for everyday work, is required. The position includes contributing to system design and architecture, developing and maintaining code, testing and debugging software, participating in code reviews, and supporting deployed products. The job posting will be open until December 21, 2026. Work hours vary based on departmental needs, and the position requires travel 5–10% of the time. Work is performed in an office setting.

Requirements

At least 2 years of relevant work experience and a bachelor's degree, or at least 5 years of relevant work experience.
At least 2 years of experience in technologies/software systems or a directly related field.
At least 2 years of experience developing and/or implementing web-based or mobile applications.
Experience in system design and architecture for product components.
Experience debugging and troubleshooting software issues.
Experience with code review and applying coding standards.
Experience planning and executing tests for software features.
Experience responding to support requests and deploying fixes.
Experience using software developer tools for code creation and maintenance.
Digital fluency, including the ability to use emerging technologies such as generative AI tools to support everyday work.

Nice To Haves

At least 3 years of work experience with a bachelor’s degree, or more than 2 years of work experience with an advanced degree such as a master’s, MBA, JD, or MD.
At least 1 year of experience building and testing enterprise-scale web services.
At least 1 year of experience on client-facing projects or technical teams.
Experience integrating feedback into designs and solution fixes.
Experience mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with stakeholders to interpret project component requirements and incorporate feedback into future designs or solution fixes.
Translate business requirements by verifying assumptions and escalating potential design issues to appropriate stakeholders.
Participate in system design and architecture, refine code plans, and contribute to design documentation.
Contribute to project estimation and escalate issues that may cause delays.
Develop, implement, and maintain code for products, services, or components using coding patterns, guidelines, and best practices.
Use debugging tools to verify assumptions and proactively flag potential issues.
Participate in code reviews, ensure coding standards are followed, and address routine pull requests.
Create test plans and configure testing procedures to identify and resolve defects across multiple features.
Respond to support requests during on-call rotations, troubleshoot issues, and deploy fixes under guidance.
Use and build knowledge of software developer tools to create, debug, and maintain code for components.
Invest time in training resources to improve product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance.
