About The Position

The Sr. Support & Post-Release Quality Engineer bridges production engineering, product support, and release quality. The role helps maintain the health, stability, and performance of back-of-house web applications, point-of-sale APIs, and Android client applications used across live merchant devices. The engineer owns post-release defect triage, root-cause analysis, and field-issue reproduction, while driving manual, automated, performance, and load testing. The role collaborates with Cloud Engineers, Android Developers, Product Owners, Site Reliability Engineers, and other teams to investigate production issues, build diagnostic tooling, and support platform reliability. This is an on-site role Monday through Friday and includes participation in an after-hours on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in Software QA Engineering, Technical Support Engineering, Systems Debugging, or SDET roles.
  • Deep hands-on proficiency with Linux/UNIX operating systems and command-line tools, and Android OS debugging, including adb, Logcat analysis, and device flashing.
  • Proven experience in manual and automated software testing, including UI and API automation, across web and mobile platforms.
  • Hands-on experience performing load and performance tests with tools such as JMeter, Gatling, Locust, or Postman/Newman.
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, JavaScript, or Shell, and working knowledge of object-oriented languages such as Java, Kotlin, or Ruby.
  • Solid understanding of SQL, relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, RESTful APIs, HTTP protocols, and JSON payloads.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex distributed-application errors, analyze large log datasets, and isolate root causes under tight timelines.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to document technical findings and connect customer-facing support teams with software developers.
  • Valid and unrestricted U.S. work authorization; sponsorship is not available.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on exposure to AWS, GCP, or Azure; microservice architectures; and Docker/Kubernetes workflows.
  • Experience setting up and interpreting dashboards in Sentry, New Relic, Datadog, or Grafana.
  • Experience with point-of-sale hardware or software, payment transaction gateways, or e-commerce platforms.
  • Experience integrating automated test suites into Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Harness release pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical contact for Product Support and Technical Success teams investigating, reproducing, and isolating root causes of complex production issues.
  • Design, execute, and maintain manual, automated, regression, and post-release validation test suites for Android applications, web dashboards, and point-of-sale REST APIs.
  • Conduct load, stress, and performance testing on web services, cloud infrastructure, and mobile endpoints to identify latency bottlenecks before and after production deployments.
  • Monitor observability tools to identify production error trends, memory leaks, and performance anomalies.
  • Build internal scripts, diagnostic utilities, and automation tools to streamline log extraction, issue reproduction, and field remediation.
  • Document technical bug reports with reproduction steps, log extracts, and root-cause analysis findings.
  • Participate in after-hours incident management through an on-call rotation to resolve high-severity outages or critical regressions.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Android Engineers, Cloud/SRE teams, and Release Management, and advocate for quality improvements in product backlogs.
