This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. Sr Structural Engineer - Steel Structures As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will work on designing and developing key structural ground systems for Blue Origin’s launch site at LC-36 (Cape Canaveral, FL). You’ll have the unique opportunity to be part of a great team building the ground mechanical and structural systems and GSE (Ground Support Equipment) for Blue Origin’s giant rockets, New Glenn and New Glenn 9x4!

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, or similar disciplines.
  • 10+ years experience with a strong background in design/analysis/construction of large and complex steel structural systems (e.g. steel towers, launch vehicle GSE, aerospace tooling, oil & gas structures, movable structures, steel bridges and platforms, etc).
  • Experience in structural and mechanical analysis utilizing FEA tools.
  • Experience designing and analyzing bolted and welded connections.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering codes and standards (e.g. IBC, ASCE, AISC, AWS, etc).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering, or closely related field.
  • Structural Engineer (SE) license.
  • Experience in STAAD, ANSYS, and SAP2000.
  • Experience in PTC Creo/Windchill.
  • 3+ years direct GSE design and analysis experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical lead for major structural systems, mentor junior staff, drive design standards and best practices.
  • Define and drive structural design solutions for large structural/mechanical systems.
  • Lead, perform, and review FEA and hand-calcs for complex steel structures.
  • Manage external design and fabrication partners through complete project lifecycle, and oversee equipment fabrication, assembly, installation, and testing & activation.
