About The Position
Shopify’s Technical Program Managers manage large-scale missions and programs that build products for merchants. In this role, the Sr. Staff Technical Program Manager will lead company-wide programs shaping how Shopify works with data, machine learning, and AI. Working alongside engineers, product managers, scientists, and AI agents, the role drives the development and adoption of advanced data processing systems, helps determine which tools to build, buy, and scale, strengthens data governance, and improves the efficiency and value of Shopify’s data investments. The work supports thousands of Shopify employees in building better products for millions of merchants worldwide. Requirements
- Extensive experience in engineering, product or technical program management, data analysis, or product development.
- Proven track record and passion for managing large, complex technical programs with measurable outcomes.
- Experience leading cross-organizational initiatives with a founder’s mindset.
- Commitment to understanding technical architecture and solution feasibility to drive software development deliverables and solutions.
- Ability to drive complex negotiations with diverse stakeholders and manage interdependent priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders, gain buy-in, and unite teams.
- Self-driven and proactive approach to navigating ambiguity and complexity in a fast-paced environment.
- Expertise in effective program management tools and cadences.
- Ability to partner with leadership as a thought leader on strategy, success metrics, and organizational alignment.
- Familiarity with AI tools and IDEs such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini.
- Ability to work AI-first in daily work.
