About The Position

This is a full-time remote position for a Sr/Staff Software Engineer specializing in SAP Full Stack Development. The role is within the Enterprise Engineering team, responsible for empowering the workforce with collaboration tools and supporting reliable systems for Finance, HR, and Legal departments. Requirements

  • Authorized to work in the US.
  • Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience working within the SAP ecosystem in one or more areas: SAP Development, SAP Security, SAP BASIS, or SAP Functional (FI, Sourcing, HR).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in at least one SAP domain, including but not limited to: SAP Full Stack Development (ABAP, CDS, OData, Fiori/UI5, integrations), or SAP Infrastructure/BASIS and Cloud Engineering (on-prem and/or AWS/Azure), or SAP security, controls, and compliance concepts appropriate to role (authorizations, SoD, data protection). or SAP Functional configuration and support (FICO, SD, MM, HCM/Payroll/Time, SuccessFactors).
  • Experience working in agile, DevOps, or continuous environment improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Able to work now and in the future without BNSF’s assistance (whether monetary, through sponsorship, or otherwise) in obtaining, maintaining, or extending employment authorization (including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN nonimmigrant status).
  • Certifications in SAP (Fiori/UI5, ABAP, BTP, Integration Suite, HANA), AWS, GRC as applicable for role.
  • Experience with S/4HANA implementations, custom code migration to BTP, ECC to S/4HANA migrations as applicable for role.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), Agile methodologies, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible), CI/CD as applicable for role.
  • Experience with SAP Document Management, Analytics Cloud, event-driven architectures as applicable for role.
  • Experience in regulated environments or industries with compliance requirements.
  • Experience in Rail, Shipping, Airline, Logistics, Warehousing, Supply Chain, or other Transportation industries.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain SAP Fiori/UI5 applications and reusable components.
  • Build backend solutions using ABAP (CDS views, AMDP, OData services, RAP).
  • Develop and support integrations using SAP Integration Suite, PO/PI, CPI.
  • Participate in full software development lifecycle and agile practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Functional Analysts, BASIS, Security, Integration).
  • Ensure compliance with SAP security standards and data protection policies.
  • Stay current with SAP innovations (SAP BTP, Build, Workzone, Joule).
  • Support mentoring, code reviews, and architectural decisions.
  • Participate in S/4HANA implementations and custom code migration to SAP BTP.
  • Apply functional knowledge of SAP modules (FICO, SD, MM, HCM/HR, Payroll/Benefits & Timekeeping).
  • Demonstrate operational excellence by monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving production issues, including participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
