Sr. Staff Optical Transceiver Validation Engineer (Photonic Fabric)

Marvell Technology•Santa Clara, CA
•$134,390 - $201,300

About The Position

Marvell’s Photonic Fabric Engineering team develops and characterizes silicon photonics technology for high-volume production, including photonic integrated circuits for next-generation AI and data center interconnects. The Sr. Staff Optical Transceiver Validation Engineer leads photonics testing and characterization of high-speed optical networking products and subsystems, including optoelectronic I/O engines for data-center scale-up networks. The role validates and troubleshoots Photonic Fabric technology, supports new product introduction from R&D through manufacturing test, and collaborates with ASIC, AMS design, and packaging teams to improve device performance and test coverage.

Requirements

  • Strong experience designing and executing test plans for datacom optical transceivers, photonic integrated circuits (PICs), and optoelectronic subassemblies, and analyzing the resulting data.
  • Strong experience performing high-speed optical and electrical measurements at 56 Gbps or higher per lane, including bit error rate (BER) testing, eye-diagram analysis, and link control loop testing.
  • Strong familiarity with optical characterization fundamentals, including spectral testing and insertion and return loss measurements.
  • Strong experience with data analysis tools such as JMP, DataConductor, or similar.
  • Ability to automate test setups using standard scripting languages, preferably Python, and integrate standard instruments such as oscilloscopes, BERTs, AWGs, tunable lasers, and optical spectrum analyzers.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum master's degree in engineering or physics.
  • Self-starter who thrives in a highly collaborative and dynamic work environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Creativity in problem-solving and strong attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with current industry trends related to CPO and NPO products.
  • Familiarity with analog and photonics device and circuit design principles.
