About The Position

Bloom Energy is seeking an experienced Sr. Staff Electrical Engineer to lead the development, integration, and certification of utility-interactive power conversion systems. These systems incorporate medium- and large-scale power electronics, grid-forming and grid-following inverters, and low-voltage power distribution equipment. The role serves as a technical bridge among power electronics, switchgear, controls, protection, compliance, product safety, and other cross-functional teams. The position involves inverter-based energy systems operating at 480 Vac with integrated switchboards rated up to 6000 A, supporting grid-parallel, islanded, and microgrid applications. The engineer will lead detailed system design, electrical architecture, protection schemes, and validation plans, while working toward certification to UL, IEEE, NEC, and applicable IEC standards. The role reports to the Sr. Principal Engineer, Electrical and is based at Bloom Energy’s San Jose, California headquarters site. The engineer will work across the product lifecycle, from system design and supplier specifications through laboratory testing, certification, production ramp, and initial field installations. The role also includes occasional field support and participation in a structured new product development process.
